L by Akyesein L by Akyesein
A quicky oekaki piece I did last night. I was watching some Death Note-related stuff on youtube, when the song "Gaeta's Lament" came up. It's a song from the show Battlestar Galactica. It's only in one episode, sung by the character Felix Gaeta.

And how is that related to Death Note, you ask?

Because the guy who played Gaeta in BSG is the same person who voiced L in DN.

Completely true.

Here's the lyrics, as my handwriting in pretty much illegibal:

Alone she sleeps
In the shirt of man
With my three wishes
Clutched in her hand.
The first,
That she be spared the pain
That comes from a dark
And laughing rain.
When she find she finds love,
May it always stay true.
This I beg
For the second wish I made, too.
But wish no more.
My life you can take,
To have her, please,
Just one day wake.
To have her, please,
Just one...
Day...
Wake...

Yeah, sad song.

It's also not completely related to L, but it's beautiful, and it reminds me of L simply through association.

Please excuse the general crappiness of this piece. I did it in less than two hours, and I know my handwriting is illegibal and I did a poor job of recreating that one fancy font.

Medium: oekaki
Total time: 1:32:5 (it times it!)

Gaeta's lament (c) creators of BSG, whose names I am currently unaware of.

I couldn't find the specific video that I watched when I drew that picture, but this is the song, at least.

Wow.... that was really really good. Allisandro has a really good voice!

*But all I could imagine was L singing... :giggle:

haha, I think that's all any L fan could imagine. Assuming, of course, that person watched the dub and not the sub.

I know the Death Note sub a lot better than the English version, so whenever I see or hear anything related to Death Note I think Inuyasha. :XD:

Yeah, personally, I can't watch subs. They're too distracting for me. Besides, I don't watch tv so that I can read, I watch it so I can vegetate!! :iconcarrotplz:

I've always preferred the subs. The acting tends to be better, I love recognizing the different actor's voices (and identifying them by the other character's they've played), plus I'm learning Japanese, so hearing the language spoken on a daily basis helps a lot. Sometimes I don't even have to read the subtitles to know what's going on.

So basically I can get away with using the excuse that I watch anime for educational purposes! :iconimhappyplz:

That's good! Good for you! You get a big thumbs-up! :icongreatjobplz:
I can't lean a language alone, I'd have to do it in a class. But there aren't any classes for Japanese where I live.

I actually am taking it as a class. I'm required to take a foreign language in order to graduate in a couple years, and at first I was going to take Italian, but then I found that in order to take it, I'd have to dual-enroll at another school, and then I saw that Japanese was offered here, so I thought "eh, might as well."

So yeah. I don't learn much from watching anime, but it's good for working on the whole "listening to what's being said and actually understanding it" bit.

This fits perfectly to my fanfic that I'm working on. It's still pretty light and happy now, but soon it will get very dark and sad.
Very good song, btw. :iconsadplz:

Ah, I'd forgotten about this old picture! I might end up redoing it at some point, if I ever find the time...

Writing a fanfic, huh? If it's up online somewhere, I'd be more than happy to read it and offer critique. :)
